Wang Liushi (Valentina Battler) was born in the city of Astrakhan in Russia. After studying at the Astrakhan College of Music she graduated from the piano class at the Leningrad Conservatory. She has worked at the Gnesins' Moscow State Academy of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in Vancouver, Canada.

At the present time she has painted about a hundred works in various styles.
