Decorated dagger
Double-edged Damascus steel blade, on 150 mm. is
decorated with nickel-plating and gilding in the form of stylized vegetable and geometric
ornament. On the blade's back side under a cross-piece in the vignette of stylized
vegetable ornament there is inscription in Russian: "Zlatoust city. 1999. Author O.V.
Averkin" and a picture of a trade sign.
Four-edged wooden haft is barrel-shaped and covered with green velvet. On the haft's
sloping grooves is placed a twisted golden fine wire. The haft has a head and a
cross-piece. The haft's framework is decorated with stylized vegetable ornament and a
picture of a partridge family. The cross-piece is formed by two carved golden kernels. The
haft is fixed to the blade with a carved golden head.
Wooden sheath iscovered with green velvet and has a mouth and a tip. The sheath
framework's edges are figured. The tip is embellished with a picture of hedgehogs in the
grass and stylized vegetable ornament. In it's lower part the tip has a figured golden
head. The mouth is decorated with a picture of elk with a forest landscape as a background
and stylized vegetable ornament. The mouth has a waist-belt ring.
